Martial Arts Experience:

I started training in Martial Arts in 1994, which includes one year of Bushido Zen Shindo and the rest of my training has been in Chi Wai Kung Fu under the instruction of Master Sifu Lee.

I have also attended seminars on Systema (the Russian Martial Art), Ju-Jitsu and Karate.

Martial Arts has helped me to achieve goals in my life by helping to build up my confidence. This improvement in my confidence has helped me to achieve academically, proven by being awarded a HND and BA Hons Degree. It has also helped me to strive to better myself in my working environment where I have attained professional qualifications and promotions. All this from a non-academic! Once you respect yourself, your confidence grows and you become willing to try (and succeed) at new goals.

I’m just a normal person and this means that at times I doubt myself and my abilities, but through my ongoing Martial Arts training along with the love and respect of my family, I recharge my self-confidence, self-belief and self-respect. Getting to grips with that new technique or, as an instructor, being the one to help a student ‘master’ that kick they were struggling with is such a boost to my confidence!

Martial Arts Ambition: to see Chi Wai Kung Fu grow and in the future to expand the accessibility of Chi Wai Kung Fu.
