The adult age at the academy is around the age of 16 yrs but can depend on the individual. The syllabus these students work with is a dynamic and effective system with the main emphasis on techniques that work. The Chi Wai Academy have spent a number of years adding and subtracting techniques to promote the best and most effective ways to deal with an attack. With the thought being towards safety at all times.

JKD Concepts

The late, great Bruce Lee founded this system back in July 1967.

Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do is a hybrid system consisting of straight forward movements, techniques and drills.

The system works on the use of different ‘tools’ for different situations. These situations are broken down into ranges (Kicking, Punching, Trapping and Grabbing), with techniques flowing smoothly between each of them.

The Very First Dacayana Eskrima School in Gloucestershire

WHAT IS ESKRIMA:

Eskrima is a term for the indigenous Martial Arts of the Philippines. Eskrima is also known by the names of Escrima, Kali, Arnis or Arnis de Mano.

Different schools use their own terminology for their style which varies from region to region. In the USA for example, Kali is widely accepted as the “Mother Art” (mainly due to the influence of Guro Dan Inosanto) but in the Philippines it is more usually Eskrima or Arnis that is seen as the correct name to describe Filipino Martial Arts (FMA).
